Cookie & Tracking Policy

This policy explains exactly what cookies and tracking technologies we use, why, and how you can control them.

Effective: April 1, 2026|Questions? privacy@documentgate.com

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners. Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remaining for a set period). We also use similar technologies such as pixel tags, web beacons, and local storage — collectively referred to as "cookies" in this policy.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They enable core features such as secure login, session management, and CSRF protection. The Service cannot function properly without these cookies, and they cannot be disabled.

Functional Cookies

These cookies remember your preferences and settings — such as your chosen colour theme, language, and where you are in onboarding. They improve your experience but are not essential. You can disable them, but some features may not work as expected.

Analytics Cookies

We use analytics tools (including Google Analytics) to understand how visitors interact with the Service. This data is aggregated and anonymised where possible. It helps us identify popular features, diagnose issues, and improve the product. Analytics cookies are only set with your consent.

Marketing Cookies

Marketing cookies track your visits across websites to build a profile and serve you relevant advertisements on other platforms (such as Google, Meta, and LinkedIn). These are only set with your explicit consent and can be withdrawn at any time.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by third-party services we integrate with. We do not control these third-party cookies and they are subject to the respective third party's privacy and cookie policies.

  • Google Analytics — analytics.google.com/analytics/terms/
  • Google Ads — policies.google.com/privacy
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel — facebook.com/policies/cookies
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag — linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy

6. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

Note: blocking all cookies may prevent you from signing in or using core features of the Service.

7. Do Not Track

Some browsers support a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. We currently do not respond to DNT signals at a technical level, but you can use our consent preferences to achieve the same result by opting out of analytics and marketing cookies.

8. Cookie Retention

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies expire after the period stated in the table above, or earlier if you clear your cookies or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent deactivates non-essential cookies going forward; it does not delete cookies already set before withdrawal.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie and Tracking Policy when we add or change the cookies we use, or when laws or guidelines change. We will update the "Effective Date" each time. Material changes will be announced via the cookie consent banner on your next visit.
